Surfing in Cape Town – Cooperation with Aloha Lodge

What is the cooperation about?

Surfing in Cape Town is a dream! As part of the expansion of our platform, we are launching a cooperation with Aloha Lodge from Cape Town. The aim of the cooperation is to increase the reach of both sides: The Stoked Zone markets the Aloha Lodge within its own network and customer base, and in return the Aloha Lodge supports the Stoked Zone in acquiring new customers.

History of Aloha Lodge

Aloha Lodge has been a popular accommodation and meeting place for surfers and globetrotters in Milnerton, Cape Town for over 25 years.
The lodge was founded by Gerhard Kühn, a former student at the Wilhelmshaven University of Applied Sciences and an outspoken globetrotter. Having traveled to South Africa regularly since the late 1980s, he decided to move there for good in 1996. He initially lived in a shared flat in the suburb of Pinelands. When the opportunity arose in 1997, he bought a house in Milnerton / Cape Town to set up a lodge for surfers and like-minded people and become independent. With lots of work he restored and rebuilt the house to fulfill his dream. The Stoked Zone founders visited Gerhard for the first time in 1997 and really enjoyed their time with him and surfing in Cape Town.
Since 2011, Annette has been running the Aloha Lodge, which she has expanded with much love and enthusiasm and made into what it is today: a real insider tip among travel fans and South Africa lovers, and a meeting place for former lodge residents and expats who have formed a solid community over the years.

What does Aloha Lodge offer?

Aloha Lodge is strategically well located in Milnerton, a quiet and green suburb of Cape Town.

It’s only a 20-minute drive to the airport, which minimizes the stress of arriving and departing in a major city. In the surrounding area, many of the most important places can be reached by car in a short time, such as the center of Cape Town, famous spots like Sunset Beach for windsurfers, Dolphin Beach for kitesurfers or Big Bay for surfers.

The Lighthouse on Woodbridge Island and the lagoon are very good and relaxed surf spots. Restaurants such as Bossa with a view of Table Mountain or Wang Thai on Lagoon Beach, as well as the Pick’n Pay supermarket and a German bakery, are in the immediate vicinity and can be reached by foot.

The city’s largest shopping center, Canal Walk, is also just a 10-minute drive from Aloha Lodge.

The lodge itself has a feel-well garden with barbecue and pool for extensive relaxation, parking on its own property, large living room with a stove for cozy mood on winter days and a pool table.

For rent there is a wooden hut in the garden, a studio apartment and double rooms in the annex and three more double rooms in the main house, of which even two can be expanded to triple or quadruple occupancy. A very well-equipped kitchen and an outdoor terrace, where relaxed barbecues are held regularly, are available for shared use. A fast and always available WLAN connection and the use of the washing machine for a small fee complete the offer.
