A look back
What a fantastic weekend lies behind us! We are still overwhelmed by the experiences, impressions and encounters we had at the Fehmarn Surf Festival this year. For all those who were unable to attend and for those who would like to relive the great moments, here is our review of the event.
Arrival and set-up: the start of an unforgettable adventure
Even the journey to Fehmarn was an experience in itself. The picturesque backdrop of the Baltic Sea island and the feeling of freedom and adventure put us in the perfect mood for the upcoming festival. The Stoked Zone team set up the stand directly on the beach early and was ready to welcome the surfing enthusiasts. We would like to take this opportunity to thank Surf-Magazin for the exhibitor evening!
Day 1: Bright sunshine and exciting surf talks
The first day began with bright sunshine and a light breeze – ideal conditions for everyone who wanted to relax on the beach and browse the numerous stalls. As a result, our stand was well attended throughout. We offered a wide range of products from Mantahari and Wavehawaii. In addition, passionate water sports enthusiasts were able to see the new Insta360 X4 for themselves as part of a video service.
The light wind was just right for beginners to venture onto the board for the first time. There was a particularly large crowd at the Bundeswehr, which gave beginners’ courses together with the Heidkate surf school. The program also included interesting surf talks, for example from Manuel Vogel with tips on sail construction and trim or from Lars Poggemann on the topic of foiling for beginners.
Day 2: SUP challenge and pumping action
Unfortunately, the wind was still not at its best the next day, but fortunately there were many other highlights besides windsurfing. The big Bitburger SUP Challenge attracted numerous onlookers, and the boot Düsseldorf offer invited people to get on a pump boat themselves. From our own experience, we can say that it is harder than it looks.
Day 3: Freestyle show and celebrity visitor
The third day of the surf festival on Fehmarn brought many windsurfers onto the board under a cloudless sky and a refreshing breeze. The range of test products from Gaastra, Slingshot and Co. was so extensive that a whole day would probably not have been enough to test everything. On this day, the pros also took to their boards and put on an impressive show at the German Freestyle Challenge Tow-In. We were also able to welcome a true windsurfing legend to our stand on this day: Björn Dunkerbeck, who has won no fewer than 42 world championship titles. He presented his film “Born to Windsurf”, which was released just last year, at the surf festival.
Last day: The final competition
On the last day, the morning yoga session followed by an ice bath with Sascha Lange was just what we needed. So after a long night of partying, we were well awakened and ready to welcome visitors from all over the world once again. A final highlight of the varied program was the “Racer of the Sea” competition. Congratulations to the winners: Fabian Wolf, Jonne Heimann, Sophia Meyer, Lena Schmäh, Erik Wehkamp, Anton Richter, Gustav Permin, Seba Piol and Niklas Lihl. After the award ceremony, it was time to dismantle and see you next year!
Conclusion: An unforgettable experience
Just like last year, it was great to be there again, to exchange ideas with many water sports enthusiasts and to have had beautiful weather at the same time. Even though the Fehmarn Surf Festival will not take place again until next year, you can still visit us at the SUP Festival on Fehmarn in July. We look forward to seeing you!
